New Research on Modeling the Impact of Floods on Housing

February marked the launch of CREW - a major new research consortium looking at Community Resilience to Extreme Weather. Funded by a £1.6m three-year grant from the EPSRC, one of the main research objectives will be to model the house price and socio-economic impacts of flood risk and climate change. A series of empirical models will be developed that will be used to model historical impacts of extreme weather events and to simulate the socio-economic consequences of future climate change scenarios. For details of the socio-economic model contact Professor Gwilym Pryce, Department of Urban Studies, University of Glasgow, Glasgow G12 8RS. For information on other aspects of the programme contact Dr. Gavin A. Wood School of Applied Sciences, Cranfield University.
