Empowering Glasgow’s Tenants through Community Ownership: a tenants’ perspective

Kim McKee (University of Glasgow) has been awarded a Small Grant (£1k) by the British Academy, to research tenant empowerment in the context of the whole-stock transfer in Glasgow. Building upon her previous doctoral research, this project will use focus group research to explore the perspective of ‘lay’ tenants. In particular, whether they feel they have been ‘empowered’ by the transfer to date; their attitudes about community empowerment and the priority they attach to it; and their support of community ownership, a goal which is to be achieved in Glasgow through further Second Stage Transfers of the housing stock.
